Big Tree Enamel Sign

Circa late 20s early 30s.

Size 137cm long x 46cm high.

Sought after enamel sign. Big Tree was only sold in New Zealand from the late 1800s until Shell Oil Co brought them out in the 1950s.

Big Tree was imported American oil from California and Big Tree refers to the giant red wood trees. Story has it, A S Paterson (founder) drove his car through a tunnel under a giant red wood tree and that is where the name for the company came from.
