Circa 1928 Large Nestles Confectionary Mirror
Here we have a stunning new old stock Nestles Mirror. The lettering is hand painted and gilded by Beaven and Tippet, while the silvering has been done by Hill and Plumber on September 14th 1928. Both these firms were Auckland based.
This mirror was sandwiched between a wall of a building in Whangarei preserving its silvering for nearly 100 years. For this reason, we do not believe this mirror ever got used for its original purpose.
We have attached a newspaper article from The Auckland Star dating to June 1918 stating in the situations vacant column "Boy, smart, wanted. Good-opportunity. Beaven and Tippet, sign writers. Vulcan Lane".
Size 130cm wide and 104cm high.
The frame is new, it has been made and aged inhouse at Elsie Wolfe to a traditional style.
