This is a clay pot used in food preparation. Before refrigeration these pots where the standard in Southern European kitchens utilized to cook and preserve.
Storing cooked meats and then buried in the ground or stored in stone-lined larders. This storage process preserved the cooked meat without refrigeration and could then be enjoyed throughout the winter months.
Beautiful patina suitable in the home or garden.
