About Us
Salvage Place is a New Zealand owned and operated Decorative Antique Store, based in Pukekohe, Auckland. William and Lily started Salvage Place for their love of antiques, all while helping to reduce not only their own, but also their customers foot print on this planet.

Starting to deal in antiques as teenagers, a gradual progression has occurred over the years, from Trade Me sellers of antiques and home décor, to Market Stall Holders and selling at Antique Fairs, its now time for William and Lily to live a life long dream. That being, owning their own company sourcing what they love and bringing it to you!

William completed his building apprenticeship at the age of 21 and successfully ran his own construction business for 8 years after that. During this time he learnt many transferable skills when it comes to restoring antiques all while developing a good eye for quality.

Since leaving school in 2012, Lily has had a variety of jobs in customer service and administration, all of which lead her down the path of her most recent background in recruitment. Lily loves meeting new people and listening to their life stories, she says it’s humbling to see so many people have a passion for preserving history by purchasing pre-loved items and being so creative to use them in and around their home.

The team of two at Elsie Wolfe are delighted to say its been an awesome ride so far and they can not wait to see what the future holds!

Container Deliveries

We are all well aware of how much plastic can accumulate during the two week period before our household recycling bin gets collected right? Well to help keep our use of plastics down, here at Elsie Wolfe Wondrous Antiques we ask for our shipments to be sent with minimal packaging, stacked very tightly like a game of 3D Tetris!

To achieve this, we ask for no pallet wrap to be used during the process of receiving our overseas orders. We have had a glimpse into a couple of de-containerizing yards and we were blown away by the extent of plastics that get used in packaging, it seemed very unnecessary to us.

Whilst we know it’s very difficult to ‘reduce and reuse’ as we so rightly get told to do, this is something we are very passionate about because why wouldn’t we want to live in a clean, green New Zealand?

This experience highlighted the importance to make a change.
It was very hard to miss the sea of sheen surrounding each and every boxed up pallet, this is not how we want our items to be shipped and luckily they aren’t!

You may wonder ‘well how do you transport your goods?’
It’s possible! We use a local furniture movers company who work extremely hard as a team to strategically and carefully pack up our goods from the container yard and deliver them to our showroom. We are very proud to say we have reduced our shipping footprint to as low as it can possibly be, and we will continue to do so in years to come.

Natural Oils

Most of our wooden items have been sealed with a plant based oil which is durable and hardwearing, highly water and stain resistant, food safe and resistant to coffee and wine.
This oil contains natural plant oils and waxes (sunflower oil, soya oil, thistle oil, carnauba wax and candelilla wax), paraffin, siccatives (drying agents) and water-repellent additives. Dearomatized white spirit (benzene-free).
We use this product as we feel it is important to encourage healthy, non toxic living.
